Jack Childress Funeral

December 23, 2015
I played the Scottish Highland bagpipes this afternoon for Jack Childress’s funeral at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Moses Lake, Washington. Amazing Grace was played as the family was seated. Going Home was played leading the casket and family out of the church. Highland Cathedral was played as the casket was placed in the hearse. MacNeil of Barra was the tartan of the day.

Graduation Party

I played the Scottish Highland bagpipes this evening for a graduation party in Kennewick, WA. Several marches, jigs, and reels were played for the graduate of the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. Her family and friends were also there to celebrate a job well done. It was an animated crowd with many taking a turn to dance a jig or two. MacNeil of Barra was the tartan of the day.

Lions Club Convention Banquet

I played the Scottish Highland bagpipes this evening to start the Lions Club Convention Banquet at the Red Lion Hotel in Pasco, WA. I led the officers of several Lions Clubs into the hall while playing Lord Lovat's Lament and Loch Ruan. After the Toast to the Piper, I marched out with Scotland the Brave. Harvey Ragan, Jr Memorial

I played the Scottish Highland bagpipes this morning for Harvey Ragan, Jr's Celebration of Life at Einen's Event Center at Sunset Gardens in Richland, Washington. Going Home was played after the military honors. I led the guests back to the Event Center while playing Lord Lovat's Lament, Loch Ruan, and Rakes of Mallow. MacNeil of Barra was the tartan of the day.

I played Scottish Border bagpipes, dulcitar, and whistle today with Celtic band Skweez The Weezle at the 19th annual Tumbleweed Music Festival at Howard Amon Park in Richland, Washington. The festival was presented by Three Rivers Folklife Society and co-sponsored by the City of Richland. After a morning and early afternoon of rain, the clouds parted and the sun shone down as we started to play on stage.

The weather was a lot nicer today than last weekend. Temperatures were 20 degrees cooler today (only in the 80's) than last Friday.

Stephanie and Bob's Wedding

I played the Scottish Highland bagpipes this afternoon for Stephanie and Bob's wedding at the Bennett Botanical Gardens in Hermiston, Oregon. I played Lord Lovatt's Lament as the families took their seats. Then I played Return From Glengarry as the groom and I, as well as the rest of the wedding party, marched in. I played Kilworth Hills for Stephanie's processional. Farewell To The Tay and The Atholl Highlanders were played for the recessional. I played Scotland The Brave and Murdo's Wedding to lead the couple to the reception area. MacNeil of Barra was the tartan of the day.

Andrea and Kate's Wedding

I played the Scottish Highland bagpipes this evening for Andrea and Kate's wedding at the Amavi Cellars in Walla Walla, Washington. A few tunes were played as guests arrived. I played Cullen Bay to lead the wedding party to the ceremony location overlooking the eastern Walla Walla Valley. I played Kilworth Hills for Andrea and Kate's processional and then Scotland The Brave and Murdo's Wedding for the couple's recessional. More tunes were played throughout the evening, including Kate's requests of The Skye Boat Song and The Cock of the North. MacNeil of Barra was the tartan of the day.

Wedding Recessional Surprise

I played the jig Irish Washerwoman on the Scottish Highland bagpipes this evening for a surprise recessional during a wedding at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kennewick, Washington. The bride wanted to surprise her mother, who had grown up around Scottish Highland bagpipes at Shadle Park High School in Spokane, Washington. And what a surprise it was! I continued playing jigs and reels as the guests departed the church. MacNeil of Barra was the tartan of the day.

Prosser 1st Friday and Smoking Anvil Scottish Ale Keg Tapping

Wearing the Ancient Hunting Fraser tartan, I played Scottish Highland bagpipes this evening at Prosser, Washington's 1st Friday event, as publicity for the Prosser Scottish Fest to raise awareness of the fest within Prosser, Washington. Some of the businesses visited included: BG's Bicycles, True Value Hardware, 7 Degrees, Horse Heaven Saloon, The Rustic Rooster, Pizzazz!, Bacchus, and Horse Heaven Hills Brewery.

As I played the pipes, the Scottish Fest Crew handed out
Prosser Scottish Fest flyers. Prosser Scottish Fest pub glasses, patches, and T-shirts were on sale.

Maureen is on a book tour for the release of her new book "The Telling Stone," which is the second book in her Time Out of Time Series. The Uilleann pipes play a significant role in the story.

2015 Prosser Scottish Fest Pub Crawl

Wearing the Ancient Hunting Fraser tartan, I played this evening for the Prosser Scottish Fest Pub Crawl to raise awareness of the fest within Prosser, Washington. As I played the Scottish Highland bagpipes, the Pub Crawl Crew handed out Prosser Scottish Fest flyers, coasters, pub glasses, and temporary tattoos.
